Wangkatja (my dialectical preference, over using the term Wongutha)means People. All of the Aboriginal people from the North Eastern Goldfields region refer to themselves as Wangkatja or Wangkayi. The list above are some of those peoples.

The recent Wongutha Native title claim cost us Wangkatja, Aboriginal people millions of dollars, it cost the respondent parties millions of dollars, yet we still have no land justice.

Aboriginal people are still denied land and opportunities in the Goldfields region, one of the wealthiest mining provinces in Western Australia. We want to think outside the square and bring forth change for our people.

The Ngalia people have established The Ngalia Foundation to raise funds to purchase tribal territories, while other tribes in the region are considering thier options, which also include going back to Court.
