News from Indian Country is a nationwide printed and on-line newspaper. Published twice a month, it offers national, regional, and cultural sections plus special interest articles, features, entertainment, letters, nationwide obituaries, and the most up-to-date pow-wow directory in the United States, Canada and 17 foreign countries.
It’s parent company, Indian Country Communications, Inc. is an independent, Indian-owned, reservation-based business located on the Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe Reservation in northern Wisconsin. News from Indian Country is one of the few tribally oriented publications not owned, or politically controlled by a tribal government.
For over two decades, ICC, Inc. has published News From Indian Country, an Independent National Native Journal and the oldest national Native newspaper in the United States in journal form. NFIC goes to press every two weeks with both its print and electronic-edition, supplying national news, pow-wow dates, and news covering all of Indian Country to the entire world. NFIC contains national, cultural and regional sections, special interest articles, features, entertainment, letters and the most up-to-date comprehensive pow-wow directory throughout North America.
Paul DeMain, Ojibwe/Oneida, is the managing editor and CEO of News from Indian Country and Akiing, a monthly section featuring stories from the Algonquin speaking nations.
News from Indian Country's award-winning columnists feature Doug George Kanentio, Mohawk; Richard Wagamese, Ojibwe; D.J. Vanas, Odawa; Kristine Shotley, Ojibwe; Arigon Star, Kickapoo; and Jack Forbes, Powhatan/Delaware.

ICC, Inc. is governed by a five member board of directors who over see the CEO that publishes News From Indian Country, The Mishomis Book and several Ojibwe Language Materials. In addition, ICC owns an office building that houses ICC, the Indian Country Trading Post, Northwoods Naturals Food and Products, Circle Systems, American Indian Against Abuse (AIAA), as well as a computer sales and repair business and an administrative office for Waadookodaading (Ojibwe Language Immersion Program).
