The Federación Ecuatoriana de Indígenas Evangélicos (FEINE, Ecuadorian Federation of Evangelical Indians) was founded in 1980. Its base was primarily in the central highland province of Chimborazo in Ecuador. It promoted the holistic development of evangelical Indigenous peoples, focusing on both their spiritual and cultural identity. Originally FEINE, which tended to be politically conservative, was presented as an alternative to the leftist-oriented CONAIE. In the 1990s, however, FEINE increasingly coordinated efforts with CONAIE and FENOCIN and sometimes FEI as they struggled for common goals. In Spanish, FEINE is now called the Consejo de Pueblos y Organizaciones Indígenas Evangélicas del Ecuador.
